Visitors to Victoria who are looking to explore beyond the city limits may wish to consider a day (or two!) of "island-hopping." Almost 200 islands are located off the east coast of Vancouver Island including the popular Gulf Islands. The Gulf Islands will lure you to their shores with renowned arts and crafts, outdoor adventure and a casual, laid-back atmosphere.

BC Ferries operates ferry service to the southern and northern Gulf Islands allowing you to easily hop from island to island. Float plane service is also available. Consider taking your bicycle or kayak with you as well. A number of Victoria-based tour companies also offer one to multi-day tours of the Gulf Islands,and bed and breakfasts and provincial campsites offer a comfortable respite if you wish to stay longer than an afternoon.
