MEMBERSHIP MATTERS MIXER: Things to think about

The opportunity to host a “Membership Matters Mixer” is one of the many benefits that are available to a Tourism Victoria Member. Any member is eligible to host one of these events as long as they can agree, and execute, the following:

  Hosting venue must be able to provide a safe and hospitable environment for
    approximately 100 attendees between 5pm and 7pm
  Hosting venue must serve, and be responsible for providing:
  • Alcoholic Beverages (beer and wine preferably but not exclusively)
  • Non-Alcoholic Beverages (water, pop, juice, etc)
  • Appetizers for approximately 100 people

The goal for the Mixers is to provide a casual, interactive event for Tourism Victoria members and Tourism Victoria staff to connect and meet one another in a spirit of camaraderie. We ask that each business featured at the Mixer (be it a door prize donation, catering company, beverage company, flyer distribution) be a member of Tourism Victoria .

If you are considering hosting a Mixer, here are some things you should think about:

  • What experience do I want to give the attendees?
  • What do I want them to know about my business and how will I showcase that?
  • How can I create a lively atmosphere for the attendees that everyone will enjoy?
  • How can I extract all the benefits available to me in hosting a Mixer?

The Mixer is your time to shine! It is your opportunity to showcase your business or venue to all of the Tourism Victoria members. A Mixer is a great way to introduce and re-introduce your business to a pool of local business people.

MIXER CHECKLIST:

The hosting venue must be able to provide:

 
Non-alcoholic beverages for up to 100 people
 
Alcoholic beverages for up to 100 people
 
Appetizers for up to 100 people
 
Some form of coat check area
 
An area that is roped off for a private event (so the public is not able to enter the area)
 
A table at the front of the roped off area for name tag station
 
Sign for the table stating what the event is (Tourism Victoria can provide if needed)
 
Washrooms
 
Non-alcoholic beverages for Tourism Victoria Staff who will be working at the event also.
 
Door Prize of some sort for the business card draw
 
Container for people to drop business cards into

If you are hosting a mixer, please send your business logo in JPEG format to the Operations Co-ordinator via e-mail for inclusion on the Mixer Flyer as soon as possible.

Tourism Victoria is happy to provide a table sign for the name tag station, name tags, and drink tickets if desired and will also supply any stationary needed for the name tag station.

Tourism Victoria will advertise the Mixer as soon as the date is confirmed. Confirmation will usually occur 6 weeks prior to the Mixer due to the ever-changing industry schedules. Tourism Victoria will display the Mixer information on the weekly Membership electronic Newsletter and will send flyers to the businesses that do not receive the e-newsletter. RSVP's will be taken through Tourism Victoria 's on-line system. RSVP numbers will be available as requested.
