Victoria's Top Photos and Videos in 2022

Thank you for joining us for a phenomenal recovery year! We went from not knowing if we’d go back to full capacity, to having full-blown concerts, festivals, and events. Here’s to a year of exploration, events, and celebration. May 2023 continue this momentum, and bring forward more incredible creativity from all of you!

Now, The Butchart Gardens always looks great – but David Saurik really knows its angles! These are the picture-perfect stairs of the Sunken Garden.

Celebrated local photographer Doug Clement really captured the essence of springtime in this BC Legislature capture.

SUMMER

Talented creator Jared VanderMeer helped us go viral this summer! His creative way of capturing a Harbour Air seaplane – from underwater – resonated with millions. Have you tried out his underwater jar trick? Click the post to watch his Reel.

A smash-hit on Facebook, Kathryn Schipper’s capture of the Fairmont Empress’ stained glass dome was a colourful addition to our daily scroll. Destroyed in a 1968 snowstorm, this window was reconstructed in 1988 based on old photographs.

FALL

This autumn, Victoria was named the Second Best Small City in the World by Condé Nast Traveller. This was thanks to you – our visitors! Below is our post commemorating this accolade, taken at Ogden Point.

While this autumn photo of The Gorge was taken in 2021, our 2022 repost blew up! Colin Smith did it again – a frequent chart-topper on our round-up.

We feel that Victoria should be world renown as a city of light. Photographer @constantlycollectingmoments did a wonderful job showing off our city’s year-round glow.

This carousel post blew up in October! This was our way of boasting about our beach weather in the autumn. We’re not sorry.  The front frame is taken by @kaleighbee__ at Hollydene Park.

WINTER

Our favourite winter activity is getting out to The Butchart Gardens to see their Magic of Christmas display (on until January 6th). Here’s the Reel we shot while there!

You all loved @greatislandadventures’ frozen capture of Mystic Beach back in January.

Always bringing a certain energy the Inner Harbour, the Empress sure impressed you through Adam Sass’ evening capture.

Combine adventurous and adorable in Greater Victoria, and you’ll get something like this. Simba the Adventure Dog shows off his trip to Mystic Beach as one of the cutest posts to grace our feed.

Last but not least, The Butchart Gardens always astounds. We can all agree that the Magic of Christmas event (photographed here by @debbiemah) is an out-of-this-world holiday experience.
