* “Tabanca” is a term from Caribbean culture, particularly Trinidad and Tobago, that refers to the deep, often painful longing or heartache experienced after a significant emotional event, usually associated with unrequited love or the end of a relationship. It’s commonly used in soca music to describe the emotional withdrawal people feel after the high-energy Carnival season ends
