Tenth Annual World Ocean Day at Fisherman’s Wharf

    What: The Greater Victoria Harbour Authority and Eagle Wing Tours invite the public and media to the annual World Ocean Day event at Fisherman’s Wharf on June 9th between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about local research and conservation initiatives through educational, fun and family-friendly activities. This year marks the 10th anniversary of World Ocean Day at Fisherman’s Wharf, a flagship event for Ocean Week Victoria.

     

    When: Sunday, June 9, from 11 a.m. when the Indigenous blessing and dance ceremony starts

     

    Where: Fisherman’s Wharf (1 Dallas Road, Victoria BC, V8V 0B2)

    • More than 20 organizations will be on-site, including the World Fisheries Trust, Ocean Wise, Ocean Networks Canada, Pacific Wild, Shaw Centre for the Salish Sea, and Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue.

     

    Why: This family-friendly event brings together a variety of conservation organizations from around the Salish Sea to educate the community about our environmental impact on the ocean. The connection to the ocean as a port city is critical to the health of the water and marine life and we each have a part to play in the ocean’s ecosystem.
