Bioluminescence Tour

Discover the enchantment of bioluminescence with our Bioluminescence Tour in Brentwood Bay, available from April to September. Join us for a guided paddle through the sparkling waters, immersing yourself in the magic of a warm spring or summer evening. Bioluminescence, a captivating light-producing chemical reaction, occurs within various organisms, from terrestrial glow worms and fireflies to marine plankton, jellyfish, octopus, squid, fish, sharks, and more. Our local waters come alive with bioluminescence during the spring and summer months when plankton concentrations create a mesmerizing display. The tour takes place in Brentwood Bay, near the famous Butchart Gardens, situated between the City of Victoria and the airport. Expect approximately 2 hours of enchantment as you paddle through the bioluminescent waters, guided by our experts.  Join us for a Bioluminescence Tour that promises not only a paddle through glowing waters but also a sense of awe and wonder as you witness nature's light show.
Destination Greater Victoria is honoured to be based on the traditional territory of the Lekwungen-speaking peoples of the Songhees Nation and Xwsepsum Nation, whose historical relationships with the land continue to this day.
