Heritage Acres
The Society is dedicated to collecting, restoring, housing, preserving, displaying and demonstrating artifacts, to tell the story of farming, country living and industry on Vancouver Island. We are volunteer/member led and operated, open year round, with minimal staff resources. This living history village is visited and used by over 2000 members of the public and 10,000 people attend scheduled events during a normal operating year. We ahve more than 20,000 artifacts, four historically significant buildings and approx.. 8,000 sq ft of indoor display space within a 29 acre (11.75 hectares) site located in a rural setting. The site also has seniors-friendly forest walking trails, picnic areas and a five acres field area used for seasonal society events. Insight and education into the local history of the community is provided by volunteers as well as via signage at the various buildings and artifacts, and a web-based catalogue archive system.
